I have so many wonderful memories of Cee, of Herstmonceux in the snow, of family celebrations, the 3 of us spending days together and her yummy, beautifully decorated cakes. She was an amazing person and I shall never forget her sense of fun, her laugh and her wicked sense of humour.
Hopefully, the tradition of the Christmas wrapping paper fights which she started at Christmas in 1976 with cottonwool "snowballs" will continue and future generations will be told about the fun-loving Cee!

Reflecting on my time knowing you, I always knew when you were coming to visit as I would hear the roar of your engine trying to reverse up to our driveway, this would go on for several minutes going backwards and forwards as you inched your way closer to the pavement .
Also the time spent on a family boxing days waiting for the bombardment of paper missiles that would come my way, which were usually orchestrated by a cheeky wink from you !
What I will miss is your very dry humour, warmth and caring for Bobbie when she was so poorly with cancer. Rest in peace Love from your favourite Brother in Law Doug

Dear Cynthia,
It’s hard to know where to start
In your life time you touched so many a heart.
The best ward sister I could have worked alongside
An inspiration, just so awesome, helpful and kind.
Sweet, supportive, caring and clever
What a privilege it was to say we worked together.
Fifty years service in the NHS
You were simply one of the best.
Always making sure we took a break
With tea and toast you would some times make.
There we were able to sit and chat
It helped us to carry on, that’s a fact.
I remember there was one day
We had a disagreement shall I say.
Something on the off duty I did not like
Oh dear it was not like us to have a fight.
You came to find me and we talked it through
Our bond then even stronger, us sisters in dark blue.
One day a patient said you were good looking
To Spec Savers you told him, “You must make a booking “.
So quick witted, funny and a mentor who loved teaching too
There was never a dull moment when we would work with you.
I remember that picnic in the park
Endless giggles we had such a lark.
On ward nights out you often came
And then it was always the same.
Such a beautiful smile and joyful energy
Your sense of humour a tonic to so many.
Very good with your hands were you
Iced a cake for my son’s christening you did do.
A lover of the garden and flowers
When I came to tea we could sit out there for hours.
In you we knew we could put our trust
You were always there and fought for us.
Your birthday it sat next to mine
So it is then I will always choose to remember
On that day, the 5th of December.
Dear Cynthia I think its time to say goodbye somehow
Let’s go and ‘FEED THE DUCKS’, right now. Xx
